We had a great weekend lead by Nikki Gallegos with a  first place finish in  the girls division at 111 pounds going 3-0 with all wins by fall.

In the boys junior varsity division, Alex Gougousis went 2-1  with a second place finish at 120 pounds. Robert Delashmutt took 4th  going 2-2 with his medal match having to default due to injury in the 138 pounds. Anthony Gougousis went 2-2 at 160 pounds. Nicholas Bronson went 2-2 at 170 pounds.

In the varsity division, Brock McCarty took second going 2-1 at 220 pounds. Eli Blackwell took fourth going 2-2 at 126 pounds. Also wrestling was Jonathon Uhl who went 1-2 at 126 pounds, Octavio Torres who went 0-2 at 145 pounds, Sammo Blackwell who went 2-2 at 152 pounds, and Angel Romo who went 1-2 at 285 pounds.

Not all possible participants were available as some are still in a fall sport (football for example gets Folsom tonight in D1 round 2 action!)  Wrestlers can continue to challenge in future wrestle offs as their weight changes, skill levels improve, etc. I expect a competitive full lineup.

Two hometown boys in pre-season state rankings

Two hometown Tracy wrestlers are in the pre-season state level rankings for individual wrestlers.  Former Tracy High (now West High) senior Ricky Lopez and Tracy High’s sophomore Eli Blackwell,  Both proving that hard work in the off-season is paying off.
